Postdoc Position in Evolutionary Developmental Biology of Fish Rutgers the State Univ of New Jersey

The Nakamura lab in Department of Genetics at Rutgers university has an NSF-supported postdoctoral position available. The long-term goal of Nakamura lab is to identify the genetic mechanisms underlying fish diversity and their contribution to the fish-to-tetrapod transition. We are particularly interested in how fish fin skeletons diversified and evolved into tetrapod limbs. To this end, we bridge functional genomics, genetics, and embryology using model and non-model organisms, including zebrafish, skates, and sharks. More information about ongoing research projects can be found on the lab website (http://nakamuralab.com/).

Candidates should have strong research records in any of the following areas: developmental biology, evolutionary biology, genomics, or other relevant fields. Our lab is a highly interdisciplinary environment, therefore, scientific curiosity and strong communication skills are necessary. Experience in zebrafish embryology, high-throughput sequencing, or bioinformatics data analysis is preferred, but not required.
Rutgers University is located in New Brunswick, NJ, which is only 45 minutes away from NYC by train. Many competitive research universities and institutes are in the Northeast area, offering remarkable opportunities for collaboration and research conferences. The Nakamura lab regularly visits the American Museum of Natural History (https://www.amnh.org/) and the Marine Biological laboratory (https://www.mbl.edu/) for the purpose of analyzing unique specimens and educating students.
Candidates should send a curriculum vitae, brief statement of current research, and contact for three references to nakamura@dls.rutgers.edu (Tetsuya Nakamura).

Postdoctoral Fellow/Staff Scientist/Research Technician at OMRF in USA

The Srinivasan Lab at Oklahoma Medical Research Foundation (OMRF) is recruiting motivated researchers to conduct NIH supported research to study lymphatic vascular development and disease. Lymphatic vasculature returns interstitial fluid, immune cells and digested lipids to blood and is crucial to support the function of the circulatory, immune and digestive systems. A dysfunctional lymphatic vasculature causes interstitial fluid to accumulate in tissues, leading to chronic swelling (lymphedema). Lymphatic defects are also implicated in systemic inflammation, cardiovascular disease and metabolic syndrome. Yet, therapeutic approaches are not available to treat lymphatic diseases. Towards this goal the Srinivasan lab uses state of the art biochemical, cell biological and transgenic technologies to dissect the roles of transcription factors and signaling molecules that regulate lymphatic vascular development and disease.

The ideal candidate will be enthusiastic about challenging projects and will have experience with Cell Biology, Molecular Biology, Biochemistry or Immunology. Experience with mouse models is preferred.

Required Qualifications
Postdoctoral Fellow/Staff Scientist: Ph.D., M.D., or Ph.D./M.D.
Research Technician: Undergraduate degree and above.
Salary of postdoctoral fellows is according to the stipulation of NIH. Salary of the Staff Scientist/Research Technician will be commensurate with experience. Preference will be given to candidates with publications in respected journals.
