Assistance for the researchers affected by the Tohoku Earthquake
From the National Institute for Basic Biology

Assistance for Disaster-affected researchers (NIBB Emergency Joint-use research)

We would like to extend our deepest sympathies to those who lost their lives in the Tohoku Pacific Ocean Earthquake, and to our colleagues, friends and their families affected by the earthquake. We hope that those affected by the disaster can restore stability to their lives as soon as possible through the fast recovery of these areas. We have heard the earthquake has caused extensive damage to universities and research institutions in the Tohoku and Kansai area, resulting in major disruptions to research activities. The NIBB would like to assist those scientists who were affected by the earthquake in re-establishing their research activities as quickly as possible, by offering the opportunity to continue their research at NIBB temporarily.

Emergency Joint Use Research
We will provide research space and host researchers who are facing difficulties in continuing their research due to their laboratories being damaged by the earthquake. If you are interested, please access the special webpage on NIBBfs site (http://www.nibb.ac.jp/support) and under Emergency Individual Request for Joint Use Research (Kinkyu kobetsu kyodo riyou kenkyu), please select and contact the laboratory that is most related to your research from the list of NIBB laboratories. If you cannot find the appropriate person or laboratory, please consult Dr. Kurata in the Office for Public Relations and International Cooperation (email: kouhou@nibb.ac.jp).
