Tissue homeostasis is a dynamically regulated process. Cells and tissues exhibit a high degree of adaptability during maintenance, maturation and renewal, and respond to a wide range of environmental changes. They also have intrinsic and extrinsic systems for damage control and repair. Stem cell systems, systemic modulation within and between tissues, and epigenetic controls may all underlie the robustness and plasticity of tissues. Defects in such homeostatic systems lead to developmental disorders, while aging is thought to involve the gradual deterioration of their function. In this symposium, we will cover a wide range of topics on dynamic homeostasis and cell/tissue integrity from the cellular to organismal level, establish new perspectives, and look to the next frontiers of the field.
The program of the 2017 CDB Symposium will feature presentations covering a broad range of topics, including (1) Maintenance of tissue integrity, (2) Homeostatic disorder, (3) Systemic control and metabolism, (4) Aging, (5) Chromosomal and epigenetic control, (6) Cell lineage and single cell analysis.
We encourage the submission of abstracts for the poster session from many scientists to increase opportunities for lively and informative exchange of views. A small number of poster abstracts will be selected for oral presentations. A limited number of travel fellowships for graduate students and post-docs traveling to Japan will also be available.
We look forward to seeing you in Kobe, Japan in March 2018.
